I am in process of selling a motorcycle to enable my buying of a Top Hat .
The Bike is a Triumph Rocket 3 2300 cc 2006 with 5000 Klm's asking around $19000.

Rob, don't do it! I managed to buy my Top Hat without selling either of my three bikes, one of which is an 06 Triumph Tiger. Granted, I'll have less time to ride them now I have the Top Hat.

Hi Miker, i know but what i was thinking if i can sell the rocket and buy a Top Hat , I (may) be able to at least get an old k100 BMW
or a R series ...see i moved up to port stephens and i got bitten Again by the sail bug !!! and living here a Top Hat would get lots more use ) I dont really want to be with out a motorcycle ... But i do want a top Hat .

Hi Rob,

Seems Tophats and Triumphs appeal to the same punters. I sold my Sprint a few weeks ago (it has a been my only transport apart from my wife's car for for the past 8 yrs) and bought a car because I couldn't get down to my boat when my wife was not home. I live at the beach on the Central Coast but my tophat is moored about 7km away in Brisbane Waters. I think, like you, I will probably end up buying an old cheap bike. It is early days, but at the moment I am enjoying sailing more regularly and not missing the bike too much. I might think differently by sring time.

Hi Mark, yes seems so . i think once its in the *blood* ...I think i will have to be patient or let price drop a lot on bike ..
at least i can still sail on wednesdays here in port stephens as i crew on a boat. they all say why bother to get a boat when you can sail for free !! But its nice to just be able to go your *own* boat i suppose. Mabe i can swap my Ttiumph for a Top Hat now there is an idea:))

I know what you have been going through I bought a Mark 1 last year and have been tossing up selling my Ducati 600 Pantah which hasn't been getting much use. Although I guess won't be sailing as much in the winter so will be able to fire her up again.

I have just purchased a top hat and am puttng my BMW R1100RS up for so sale on bikepoint tomorrow for around the $7,500 mark - a few months ago sold my R75/6. I travel too fast on those things hence getting the top hat! How did you go with your bike sale and getting a top hat??? Cheers Peter
