Hi All,
Has anyone moved their TH by road?
Wanting to get mine from Middle Harbour to Yamba.
Would appreciate any advice, feedback, costs etc

Hi Olly

Porta Slip , I think it cost about $800 in that ball park . Allan didn't want to take Egret II out at Tunks Park Boat ramp due to the narrow roads coming out and vehicles on the side of the road ,so the Roseville bridge ramp was used.
Regarding the mast etc ,I removed it myself using a Swanson 38 as the jib. I,m also fortunate to have the use of the family 's private slips .While the mast was out I repainted checked the rigging and rewire the lights etc. I stood the mast with a couple of mates on new her mooring on Lake Macquarie.

If you are thinking of taking the most easterly option, I would be keen to help. After all, its a boat!
That's a good trip up to Yamba and its a good time of year. I'm sure there are a number of similarly helpful and qualified people that could help you.
The amount of money you put into setting it up will be repaid as you will be prepared to go to sea at any time.

Same here Olly, shouldn't take more than a couple of days..... especially with all these southerlies!

Worth thinking about, when you consider the road costs, plus slipping, re-rigging, possible damage etc, the Easterly option might be better all around.

I bought my Mk1 in Yamba and sailed her down to Broken Bay where she is now moored, so it would be the same trip in reverse, it took six day trips in total; I really enjoyed the voyage and it’s a great way of getting to know the boat. See post in New members Say Hi viewtopic.php?f=12&t=524

On Marinka from Lake Macquarie it took 36 hours to Laurieton and then from there left on a Monday morning at 9:30 am and were off Yamba about 5:00 pm on Tuesday afternoon and acros the Gold Coast seaway at 6ish on Wednesday night. It was a good run and alot of fun in the little boat. Cheers
