What I did or planned for my Top Hat today!

Well I know what I'm doing today. Perhaps its telling me I should do more sailing.

Time to go sailing

With the recent humid weather the engine has condensation in the sump, so an oil change and service.
The list is long.

Well, we did it!

The mast is back in Seaka but not without some drama!!!!

We went to put the masthead light on and found that I had drilled and taped the holes the wrong way round!!!

After some discussion we swapped boats [that's when the wind nearly put the stern of Seaka into the rock wall]
at the wharf, a H29 was on the same gig, and I redrilled and tap'ed the the masthead while they installed his mast.

Well 2 out of 3 holes were tap'ed OK but the third didn't work out. So I applied an industrial grade glue to the 3/16"
bolt and we will just have to see how it goes.

What a relief to get all that done... now to install the new deck gear.

Seaka is now sitting on a much more level keel now that the mast is back in.

New Sails on board, some minor adjustments still to be done to get them all dialled in.
Had a short sail yesterday afternoon and the difference is amazing, the boat picks up speed quicker in less breeze and really powers up under gusts, tried furling in the genoa and it works great as well

Bah Humbug.

I came back on dry land after a solo weekend on board.
Sailing, swimming, talking to goannas, siesta, read one and a half books.
Enjoyed sunrises, sunsets, stars, phosphorescent water and stunning scenery.

Did not want to come home this morning.

Moral of this story....
More fun... less maintenance.


p.s. No seafood this trip.
Chicken, pate, mangoes, salami, pasta, general munchies, still white wine and bubbles.

pps. Had a chat to an ex Top Hatter who now has a 40 foot ish ketch.
Says he still misses his Top Hat and came on board for a sticky beak.

ppps. Could not replace the shower head / extend the shower hose.
Need a different tool or someone with more muscles.
Was seriously stuck and unable to unscrew the broken bit.
So had to survive with swims and the waterfall.

Hi Sealady, so the advantage is the bloke can pour water over you like a shower? And scrub your back?

Was thinking he could be better at using pliers and multigrips than me.

I suppose blokes can be useful for more than one thing???

Blokes are absolutely useful for more than one thing, but just make sure you keep it to one thing at a time. Back scrubs and using multigrips at the same times could have disasterous outcomes...
